Leading the Leaders
I’ve been thinking about the importance of self improvement as a leader a bunch lately. I know I don’t have it all figured out. But I know the value in learning from others and look to many as mentors to lean on. In Mark Roberge’s book – The Sales Acceleration Formula – he references one of the key traits he hires for is coach-ability. I love this. I also feel like as leaders – we too, need to have this same mindset. As coaches ourselves, we need be coachable.
With so much demand on our time, its critical to stop, game plan and prioritize getting better in all facets of our lives to be the type of leader we can be. How coachable are we as leaders? WHO and WHERE do we look to for guidance?
This post may be a bit of a shift from typical weeks, but one that I feel is no less important. There are three things that I feel i'm constantly trying to fine-tune, improve on and strive to be better at.
Mentorship. Who do you look up to as a leader? I posed this question on LinkedIn as well as surveyed some of the top sales and thought leaders in the Tech space. I asked them for someone they follow, look to or has impacted their career in hopes they'd pass on the tribal knowledge. Check out what they said.
Sharpening the saw. Whether we are sharpening our productivity through life hacks and tools or establishing a more intentional morning routine for personal development- we all need some help sharpening the saw. I've included a few bits of advice I found that stood out to me.
Mindset. While I didn’t always feel like this, I’ve completely bought-in to developing a mindset of positivity for motivational encouragement. Positivity breeds success. Learn from some gurus below.

Leading the Leaders

History has some great examples of wildly successful leaders being influenced and mentored in how they think and act by others. Zuckerberg mentored by Steve Jobs. Bill Gates leaning on the wisdom of Warren Buffet.
This got me thinking - Who leads today’s sales leaders? Who and where do we to look for guidance?
I personally reached out to some of the more influential thought leaders in SaaS sales. I asked them for someone they follow, look up to or someone that has impacted their career- in hopes they’d pass on the tribal knowledge to me and you.

🧠 Mindset Matters

Most of the time positivity isn’t sunshine, rainbows, and unicorns. More often it is simply having a plan. When backed in a corner, formulate a plan, any plan. Then adjust, refocus, and be flexible. There is success ahead. There are better days ahead. Plan on it. - Riley Jensen
