Hello friends!
Teamwork makes the dreamwork. Or something like this right?
We all know the power of a strong sales team. I’ve had the privilege to work alongside some amazing sellers and leaders alike.
The anatomy of a successful team is something experts continue to study and something we’d all like to perfect.
So how do we as leaders continue to build for success? Today is all about recruiting, hiring, and building as a sales leader.
Even amidst today’s uncertainty - I think this one is a valuable one.
In this week’s edition of Stretch Weekly -
Chris Orlob’s new sales management blog with his 6-step approach to hiring great salespeople.
Dustin Deno, SVP Sales at Showpad talks with Tom Alaimo and shares his secrets of building a strong sales culture.
And don’t miss must-read snippets all about finding, recruiting, hiring, and scaling your all-star sales team.

How Great Sales Managers Hire Great Salespeople
Perfect timing for this week. So good in fact, that I’m doing this write up on a warm summer evening to sneak it into tomorrow’s newsletter.
I’m really glad I stumbled upon Chris Orlob’s new sales management blog Quotasignal. His first article is all about hiring great salespeople.
He hits the Gong on the head (Pun intended. Is this a thing? I’m a drummer - I should know) with this one.
NOTHING hurts your credibility more as a sales leader than a bad hire.
A big reason I like this piece, is because Chris goes DEEP talking about the chronological interview process ( Something I featured back in March of this year on THIS post from Mike Hook and have used since first learning of it) and his 6-step interview process for sales leaders.
He breaks down the why, how and science behind this approach as well as gives tangible questions and master list of interview questions.
It also talks about some critical “soft traits” such as Grit, Coachability and others I’ve been vocal about. Give this one a read - it’ll come in handy either now or later.
Secrets Of Building A Strong Sales Culture
Dustin Deno, SVP Sales at Showpad talks with Tom Alaimo and shares his secrets of building a strong sales culture.
Highlights:
Ramping/hiring best practices: Provide the right training, right environment and invest in the right people.
Retention: Common mistake - Don’t make promotions and career path ambiguous. Lay out path to promotion.
Hiring leaders: How to vette them out? Ask them how many people they can bring with them? Why? The best leaders are a talent magnet and clear indicator.
Also fun to hear Dustin’s sales book recommendation is Mark Roberge’s Sales Acceleration Formula (one of my notable recommendations as well)
